We have a saying here in Korea...

"...Canada is a boring paradise. Korea is an exciting jail."

~told to me by a Korean lady who was wistfully reminiscing about her 3 years in Canada, and wishing she could go back.

Better to be bored than to be in jail..

Sadly, most of eastern countries suffer of that malice.. the lack of freedom. It must be somehow hard for you to live and experience that reality..

Actually, although I live here, I am very removed from that sense of imprisonment...I can go just about anywhere I want and teach English, whereas they have to work their asses off to learn English and save enough money to go travel abroad. We English teachers in Korea have it pretty easy. So actually it's more like an exciting camp. We signed up for a certain time, and we're gonna leave afterward. Koreans have it pretty tough.
